Silent Comedy All-Stars (in NYC)

March 20 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$17.85
  • « (7PM-9PM Hourly) Badger & Jam (in LA)
  • Foil Arms and Hog (in NYC) »

Could you use a good laugh? This screening of slapstick comedy shorts—with live musical accompaniment by Ben Model—showcases the biggest stars of the silent film era. In THE RINK (1916) Charlie Chaplin is a waiter who goes to a roller-skating rink to unwind. THE SCARECROW (1920) finds Buster Keaton down on the farm, vying for the hand of the farmer’s daughter. In DOG SHY (1925) Charley Chase battles cynophobia to save a young woman from marrying a nobleman she doesn’t like, and in TWO TARS (1928) Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy are a pair of sailors on shore leave who head out for a joyride—and wind up in a hilarious traffic jam. All four films will be presented in new digital restorations, and Ben Model will once again bring his portable theatre organ to the CWP for that special movie palace sound.
