SHOWBOAT follows the tragedy of top cop James Comey, former director of the FBI, tracing his many triumphs and foibles as he attempts to survive the Trump administration and please his toughest critic – his daughter, Betsy Ross Eisenhower Comey. But as pressures build up at work, and his daughter becomes involved in an illicit tap-dancing affair with Barron Trump, Comey finds himself drawn ever more to the spotlight. He must decide whether he’s America’s hero – or his daughter’s father. SHOWBOAT is a grotesque and absurd vaudevillian jukebox musical – an explosion of our media circus and the art of tap dancing, as told through the music (with new lyrics) of America’s sweethearts of EDM, the Chainsmokers.
