Shame-Full (in LA)
November 11 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
$11.64Nina never asked to be born, and now that she’s here, she’s spent her entire life feeling bad about it. Through a hybrid of intimate storytelling and characters, Nina explores the areas of shame that she has experienced as a woman who is forever trying to escape her own reality. In this autobiographical hour-long show, Nina introduces the audience to different parts of herself that all have the running through-line of shame: her childhood obsession with suffering and martyrdom, being a prolific fanfiction writer at 13 and her subsequent fall from fanfic grace, getting “saved” at age 16 and being a born-again Christian until age 23, and the effect said Christianity had on her sexuality, and more. “Shame-Full” is a vulnerable and eccentric solo show from a neurotic Latina that asks the question: are we born with shame, or are we taught to feel it?
