Katie Yee presents Maggie; or, A Man and a Woman Walk Into a Bar

In conversation with Gerardo Sámano Córdova

Brooklyn author Katie Yee presents her debut novel Maggie; or, A Man and a Woman Walk Into a Bar, about a Chinese American woman who spins tragedy into comedy when her life falls apart. After finding out her husband is having an affair, she discovers the pain that’s begun in her chest isn’t just heartbreak—its cancer; a tumor she names Maggie, after the woman her husband has left her for. Unfolding in fragments over the course of the ensuing months, Maggie follows the narrator as she embarks on a journey of grief, healing, and reclamation. Gracing every major best-of-summer list, including Time, The Washington Post, and The New York Times—which calls it “delightful and quirky”—Yee’s debut is an upcoming release readers are most excited for! Monstrilio author Gerardo Sámano Córdova joins Yee for a discussion on the book, before an audience Q&A and signing.
