Animation First 2024: Misery Loves Comedy – A Talk with Janet Perlman (in NYC)

Join award-winning filmmaker Janet Perlman for a screening of 8-10 short films and a discussion of her works and inspirations. Over the span of her career Perlman has created an impressive and wide-ranging body of works. Some of her best-known films include The Tender Tale of Cinderella Penguin (nominated for an Oscar), Why Me, My Favorite Things That I Love, Sorry Film Not Ready. Whether it is for its own sake or to tackle serious subjects, satirical and absurdist humor is perhaps what ties her films together best. These 75 minutes with Perlman promises to be fun and spirited!

“The Girl with the Red Beret”, her latest short film, will screen in New Francophone Shorts program 1 on Wednesday, January 24.
