Pick of the Day: Kate Berlant is Kate (near LA) 1/17-2/11

Kate Berlant is the rare comedian that not only expands the outer bounds of what it means to be a comedian, but one that does so in a way that engrossing, mystifying, ridiculous, and hilarious all at the same time. We often profess the true freedom that the discipline of stand-up can offer, but few choose to take advantage of. Berlant takes a running start with said freedom so she can get enough momentum to fly wherever Kate’s multilayered imagination and ingenuity decide to take her.

Certainly, this is all showcased in her solo show Kate Berlant Is Kate, which we were lucky enough to see it workshopped at The Elysian with director Bo Burnham before it had a big fancy run at the Connelly in NYC and is now returning for a month long run at the Pasadena Playhouse. On select dates from Jan. 17th through Feb. 11th, you can bare witness to Berlant’s latest and greatest work.

Tickets start at $44 and you can (and should) go snag ’em here.
