This show’s Expert is MAGGIE SMART-MCCABE!!!

Maggie is a Compost Hubs Post Manager who has years of experience working in urban gardening, soil health, and farmers markets of Northeast LA. “They love working with volunteers and sharing compost with neighbors!”

Maggie entered this work when they graduated during the pandemic in 2020, and began to spend most of their free time volunteering in gardens. What started as a hobby has turned into years of experience in working in regenerative garden management, leading community composting hubs in local green spaces, and teaching about community soil health through microscopes and bioremediation projects.

Maggie also co-leads Club Gay Gardens– a collective of local LGBTQIA+ volunteers who build and maintain a native habitat parkway garden at the Glendale community arts nonprofit, Junior High LA. Maggie loves composting with volunteers and neighbors, and is also the bass player for a band of local composters called Compost Jam! You can find Maggie on Instagram @maggie__mayhem.

“Expert Of…” is a long-form improv show where we first interview an Expert in their Field. Between the short interviews, we have a talented set of improvisers who utilize the Expert’s answers to inspire their hilarious scene work. Time allowing, we open the floor to the audience to ask the Expert questions.

Over the years, our Experts have included a Pulitzer Prize-winning Presidential Photographer, a Sommelier from a Michelin Two-Star Restaurant, a Luxury Watch Repair Technician, The Curator of The Hollyhock House and a Head Coffee Roaster.
