Next Round of Hartbeat/Sundance Institute’s Women Write Now Comedy Writing Fellowship Now Open for Submissions

Even though A Black Lady Sketch Show has just kicked off its fourth season on HBO Max, there are still many black female voices that haven’t gotten the platform they deserve. As such, Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat and Sundance Institute is continuing their collaborative comedy writing fellowship for black women, Women Write Now, for 2023-2024.

This exclusive fellowship will take 3 black female writers through a very fruitful program that involves premiering a comedic short at Sundance, a 12 month first look deal at Hartbeat, and at least $10K. If accepted into the program, you’ll also be mentored by what Hartbeat promises to be the best of the best when it comes to black women in comedy. That’s a lot more than one would be promised in a typical comedy writing (or any type of writing for that matter) fellowship, FYI.

If interested, you can get all the details and submit at hartbeat.com/womenwritenow/. The deadline for submissions is June 5th at 5PM PT. They even have a nice countdown on the main page for this fellowship in case you need to know how many minutes and seconds you have left.
